Dr Michael Karpa
Ophthalmologist & Director | FRANZCO
Dr Michael Karpa is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in oculoplastic surgery, focusing on the eyelids, periocular region, and related reconstructive and functional procedures. His practice also includes cataract and glaucoma surgery, as well as selected treatments for ocular conditions requiring medical or surgical care.
He trained at Sydney Eye Hospital and undertook subspecialty fellowships in oculoplastics and glaucoma across Australia, the Pacific, and the United Kingdom, including King’s College Hospital, London. Over more than a decade in consultant practice, he has combined surgery with teaching, research, and outreach programs in resource-limited regions.
Through Best Practice Aesthetics, Dr Karpa provides doctor-performed oculoplastic and non-surgical aesthetic treatments for the delicate eye and facial areas, delivered in a clinical setting with medical oversight.
Before his medical career, he worked as a research chemist and Army pilot. He continues to serve in the Australian Army Reserves and holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, contributing to ongoing research and academic publications.
